About Us

Remi; The inspiration for Tails Landing Sanctuary

The inspiration for creating Tails Landing Sanctuary was Remi, a beautiful girl that was initially my foster.   Remi was born with hypoplasia in all four of her legs, often called "twisty legs." She was also born with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), also known as "wobbly cat syndrome." Remi is not in pain from either the hypoplasia in her legs, nor the CH. She is non-mobile, but has a wheelchair that she occasionally enjoys getting in to play with her siblings, but she prefers being carried.

Remi has enjoyed a great life since I started fostering her, and ultimately adopting her. She gets to wake up in the morning and leisurely watch the birds and squirrels eat and play outside. Remi also loves watching the fish every week at the pet store, so much that we were able to get her own fish tank at home.

Loving and caring for Remi was, and continues to be, the inspiration for creating Tails Landing Sanctuary. Providing a loving home and advocating for disabled and end of life animals is our mission, and one we are determined to get right. All animals deserve this throughout their life, no matter what.

Different is Beautiful.

Pistol Pete

Pistol Pete is our first resident animal of Tails Landing Sanctuary. He is a wonderful, loving, and curious guy that loves to be involved with all of his siblings. Pete was born with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). Although his case of CH is on the "severe" end of the spectrum, Pete is very mobile and makes his way around the house and cat trees at his leisure. We have ensured everywhere he likes to go is well padded so that he cannot get hurt as he makes his way through the house.

Pete initially came to us as a foster after being returned three times due to his CH.  After a few adoption inquiries that did not work out, the decision was made to make him the first resident of Tails Landing Sanctuary. Pete has officially been a resident of the Sanctuary since January 2026 and is loving his life.
