The inspiration for creating Tails Landing Sanctuary was Remi, a beautiful girl that was initially my foster. Remi was born with hypoplasia in all four of her legs, often called "twisty legs." She was also born with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), also known as "wobbly cat syndrome." Remi is not in pain from either the hypoplasia in her legs, nor the CH. She is non-mobile, but has a wheelchair that she occasionally enjoys getting in to play with her siblings, but she prefers being carried.
Remi has enjoyed a great life since I started fostering her, and ultimately adopting her. She gets to wake up in the morning and leisurely watch the birds and squirrels eat and play outside. Remi also loves watching the fish every week at the pet store, so much that we were able to get her own fish tank at home.
Loving and caring for Remi was, and continues to be, the inspiration for creating Tails Landing Sanctuary. Providing a loving home and advocating for disabled and end of life animals is our mission, and one we are determined to get right. All animals deserve this throughout their life, no matter what.
Different is Beautiful.

Pistol Pete is a wonderful, loving, and curious guy that loves to be involved with all of his siblings. Pete was born with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). Although his case of CH is on the "severe" end of the spectrum, Pete is very mobile and makes his way around the house and cat trees at his leisure. We have ensured everywhere he likes to go is well padded so that he cannot get hurt as he makes his way through the house.
Pete initially came to us as a foster after being returned three times due to his CH. After a few adoption inquiries that did not work out, the decision was made to make him a resident of Tails Landing Sanctuary. Pete has officially been a resident of the Sanctuary since January 2026 and is loving his life.

Meet Smush ❤️
Some cats are beautiful because they’re perfect.
Smush is beautiful because he’s perfectly Smush.
At just six weeks old, Smush and his sister arrived from a local shelter needing a second chance. They both had a few health hurdles to overcome, but with time, good veterinary care, and lots of love, they grew into happy, thriving kittens. Once she was ready, his sister quickly found her forever family.
Smush’s journey was a little different.
He stayed behind while we searched for answers to his chronic watery eyes. After working with his veterinary team, we learned he was born with underdeveloped tear ducts, which explained the constant tearing and irritation. He was also born with a cleft lip, giving him the most adorable little nose that has become one of his signature features.
As if that wasn’t enough to make him special, Smush has the tiniest little head wobble—a subtle reminder that perfection comes in many different forms.
Today, Smush doesn’t let any of those differences slow him down. He’s happy, curious, and full of personality. His unique little face has a way of making everyone smile, and once you meet him, it’s impossible not to fall in love.
At Tails Landing Sanctuary, we celebrate animals exactly as they are. Smush is a perfect reminder that what some may see as imperfections are often the very things that make someone extraordinary.
He may have a smushed little nose, watery eyes, and a tiny wobble…
…but to us, he’s absolutely perfect. ❤️🐾

Every great rock legend has an origin story… and Johnny Crash’s started with a few too many opening acts.
Born to a semi-feral mama, this little rocker arrived in foster care battling coccidia, ringworm, fleas, and ear mites. After a whole lot of TLC, good medicine, and a dedicated road crew, he’s healthy, thriving, and ready for a headline.
Johnny Crash has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), which means his balance has a little extra rhythm. He may wobble, stumble, and occasionally stage dive without meaning to, but CH isn’t painful and doesn’t stop him from living life at full volume.
He’s a fearless explorer who’s convinced every room deserves a backstage pass. New toys? He’s first in line. Cat tunnels? Encore! Cardboard boxes? World tour.
Now, every rock star has a phase… and Johnny Crash’s happens to involve tiny kitten teeth. He’s currently the lead guitarist for the band The Tiny Chompers. Like most kittens, he gets excited during play and sometimes forgets that fingers aren’t chew toys. Thankfully, he’s learning the ropes every day and is becoming more gentle as his confidence grows.
Johnny Crash is equal parts chaos, comedy, and cuddle bug. He’ll keep you laughing with his wobbly zoomies, Wonky jumps, melt your heart with his determination, and remind you that sometimes the best performances come from those who refuse to let anything keep them off the stage.
So we welcome a little rock legend into our life, crank up the love, grab our backstage pass, and we are ready for the greatest show on four wobbly paws.
